The Medicine Buddha brings health and healing on all levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. He is a radiant blue color, much like lapis, and sits in meditation on a lotus. His right hand holds a medicine tree or healing herb and his left hand holds a begging bowl filled with nectar. While the design of this Buddha is not strict with traditional thigse proportions, his color and gestures are typical of the Medicine Buddha. 

This painting is sweet and childlike because it was painted for a very special child in my life. Before he was born, his parents learned that he would have a physical defect and this was a big concern. I painted this Medicine Buddha with this child in mind and designed the Buddha's face to be what I imagined the little boy might look like blended with the enlightened qualities of the Buddha. The dragon is the Kundalini Shakti, surrounding and protecting the Medicine Buddha.
